"The book is a great review of the environmental and cultural history of the Great Basin. Grayson has simplified it so that you don't have to be an archaeologist to enjoy it. I especially enjoyed the discussion about movements by prehistoric peoples into and out of the Great Basin throughout the Holocene. He uses many types of evidence to illustrate his points, such as the environment and languages, and discusses the relevance of the data. I really enjoyed it."
