About this title: When a death at the big house is announced to the village of Compton Dando, few people are surprised, as "The Golden Windhorse" is home to some new-age oddballs. When the coroner deems the death an accident, it is something of a disappointment. But then another death is reported.

"Full of interesting characters - story moves quite slowly - not a real 'who done it'....
Finally finished - I now know more about the 'Outer Screen of Life' and the 'Inner Matrix of Reality' than I really needed to know (and I'm not even counting the great 'Devas of the Crystal Grid' and the 'Concentrated Flame of the Presence of the Sacred Fires')."
"The best part of this series, for me, is Inspector Barnaby and the relationships he has with his family and with Troy, his sergeant. Then there is the relationship he has with himself. He is able to see himself as he truly is, flaws and all. He may not be able to eliminate the flaws, but he does not overlook them and their impact on others and on his ability to do his work. The cast of characters in this book are quite fun and Caroline Graham provides ties up their stories neatly by the end of the book. I have watched most (perhaps all) of the Midsummer Murders series on PBS and enjoyed them, but don't recall seeing this book or its predecessors dramatized. Even if I had, I think I would enjoy reading the book just as much."
"Oh this book was great! A really fun fun book that is more about the characters than the story. I love the characters themselves, the relationships they have with each other, and the great understanding Inspector Barnaby has of them all.
I don't know, Carolin Graham is just a fun author, that's all I have to say. This book beats the pants off of the Agatha Christie books I've read so far."
