"Callie is a sixteen-year-old girl who seems completely normal. She runs track, she gets decent grades, and has normal parents. The thing is, her little brother is sick with serious asthma and when her parents aren't home she has to look after him and it starts to stress her out. She takes her emotions out on herself by cutting her wrists. The school nurse takes her pulse one day and notices the scars, so she gets sent to Sea Pines, a home for people who aren't mentally stable. She refuses to speak, and finally she realizes if she wants to change she's going to have to try.
I can relate Callie to lots of people who are too afraid to talk to anyone about their problems and take it out by cutting or even committing suicide. Lots of people seem perfectly fine, but on the inside they have issues no one knows about. Even if people just cut themselves, they could end up dying. It's good that Callie got help because she could have accidentally killed herself if she continued to cut herself.
I would give this book three stars because it wasn't very climactic. I understand what the climax was supposed to be, but it wasn't very exciting. And it was frustrating waiting for Callie to start talking. If you like books like Go Ask Alice and Burn, you'll probably like this."

"A very fast read with a very fast horror factor. I am still sweating from reading the cutting scenes.
Scary, graphic stuff aside, the book quickly but thoughtfully examines why Callie, a 15 year old runner/math afficionado/big sister/unenthusiastic observer cuts herself.
The short answer is blame. She blames herself for her brother's sickness.
Callie (as well as the other "guests of Sea Pines") blame themselves a lot. Each girls expresses the blame by destructing their precious bodies. Callie uses an exacto blade, or whatever is handy at Sea Pines, to cut and unsuccessfully release the blame from her body.
The book explores Blame and is written in the first person with an interesting twist: Callie, usually silent, speaks her mind in her mind first and then attempts to vocalize it with her peers and her therapist. The author examines her momentous and intricate thought process brilliantly.
Understanding blame is the most important lesson I learned from this book but I loved the subplot of running, too."
"Callie has personal issues. Her brother Sam is alergic to alot of things.one day he has a asthma attack.Callie thinks it is all her fault. She cuts her self even more. she doesn't cut that far into her skin but its still a problem.She doesnt do it everyday.
In this book i noticed a text to world connection. There are alot of kids in the world who feel like they have problems or who feel bad about their lives. They decide to hurt themselves and feel better then saying their feelings and talking to a therapest.
I give this book 4 stars. Its an interesting story and shes an interesting character to she which route shie is taking. This book wanst the best but not the worst. it was confusing sometimes because it didnt have someones name or something happend in her life but i didnt fallow it so it was hard to figure out her story line and stuff. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes hearing someones problems and working out. Or if someones going threw stuff like she is. Somepeople might find this book helpful. It was kind of dtrange at sometimes."
