"Arthur Miller's The Crucible is a good read because you get history and drama wrapped in one. Though it doesn't have a excellent hook and can be a bore at the beginning, it's worth reading. A slow start makes for a fast paced plot and as the story takes shape, the reader becomes enchanted by the deceit, brutality, denial, and love that is intricately woven to create a good book. As the reader progresses in the story, he or she will meet John Proctor and his wife Elizabeth(a struggling couple with a marriage on the rocks), Abigail(a clingy teenager with a broken heart and a terrible temper), Reverend Hale(originally from Beverly, he is called to Salem because he specializes in witch craft), Reverend Parris(the uncle of Abigail, he is not well liked by John Proctor), Judge Danforth(an old judge with a stubborn streak), and many other memorable characters. In the play, Abigail and her friends are caught in the woods dancing by her uncle, Reverend Parris; Betty, the daughter of Parris, takes it upon herself to get them all out of trouble by feigning illness. This is where the story gets spun out of control, as Abigail seizes the opportunity(with both hands) to get Elizabeth out of the picture as the town starts to blame witch craft on Betty's state. The people of the town want all of those who are accused to be expunged...until their friends and the paradigms of the community are next on the gallows. Suspenseful and so much more, Miller will have readers swooning once they have gotten into the plot of the play."
"The Crucible by Arthur Miller was based on the witch trials in Salem Village in 1692. Miller writes about how a group of girls play a scandalous joke about witch craft. But the people of Salem are convince that witch craft really does exist. There minds become poison with hate and blame. Many innocent Village people are brought upon trail against a jury that refuses to listen to them. Character Jonh Proctor's wife Elizabeth was accused of witch craft even though the court had no evidence of her being a witch but a doll that she never had touch in her home. She was accused by John Proctor's jealous girlfriend. John Also said that he was a witch to end all the drama. But John didn't want to sign a paper with his signature because his name was no the line. Still with pride on the line the people accused of witchcraft were hung. At the end the jury found out that they were wrong,and witch craft doesn't exist. The theme of the Crucible is to always listen to a person's thought before you judge them. If the jury had listened to the defendants stories there would have been a positive outcome."
