I enjoyed this book very much. It showed the continuing growing power of Luke while showing that Han maybe a pirate but hes not the only one. It introduces Prince isolder a royal prince from a system of planets whose alliance with the new republic could mean a lasting peace. The price a royal marriage to leia. Isolder is shown to be a pirate in princes clothing. Having the same style as Han leia shows an attraction to this Princely rogue. So much so that Han is forced to put any fears or doubts Leia has out how her mind by one last daring ploy. This leads to a planet of mystery where Luke joins them where his understanding of the force along with his power increase ten fold.

this is a fun book i very much reccommend...

Fun Star Wars book. The new Alliance government peace talks hit a snag when a planet attempts to cement ties by having their prince marry Princess Leia.
    Awkward.

Then we end up on a planet with a base of left over Empirials and a group of women warriors that ride Rancors, the giant beasts from that pit in Jabba's Palace.

Fun read that isn't trying to re-invent the wheel, but rather just present a decent bit of space opera.
The 'courtship' works, as it never gets annoyingly over dramatic.
The idea of going to the the planet of Rancors is cool enough and the added idea of them being ridden by amazons just gets better.

3.5 actually. Pleasing in a quaint, old-fashioned way. Though it chronologically follows more recently written SW books, Courtship is among the first generation of expanded SW universe novels. It shows. The characters stay close to their big-screen stereotypes.

Not a bad story, but probably only one SW enthusiasts would bother to read, let alone enjoy. Assumedly, they will enjoy it.

    Nice cover art.

The characters in this book share the same names as those from the movies, but they are NOT the same. In addition, the book doesn't carry the Star Wars feel that we love from the original trilogy. Even the Legacy of the Force series, which was some what melodramatic, captured the Star Wars essence so much better. This book also had more nudity and suggestive content than I feel comfortable reading in a Star Wars book. All in all, I guess there is a reason this guy only got to write one Star Wars book. It's a shame that it had to be the landmark event of Han and Leia finally tying the knot.

That said, the epic feeling of the finale combined with the fact that our favorite heroes from the movies get to ride around on rancors really left a good impression on me.
