"In this elegant but unflinching testimony, Philipp von Boeselager, until his death in 2008 the last surviving member of the plot code-named Valkyrie, gives voice to the spirit of the small but determined band of men whose sense of justice and honor could not be dissolved by the diabolical glamour of the Third Reich. "This book was written by the last living member of a group of men, Germans nonetheless, who attempted to assasinate Hitler. It read like a history book with a lot of information on Philip's military career. I don't know very much about military organization, so some of it I had a hard time understanding. However, what an amazing story! It was pretty factual, but to read between the author's lines and think/feel about what these men were putting on the line and what motivated them to do so was moving."
"I saw the movie and was interested in reading the book. This was an interesting account of one of the failed plots to assassinate Hitler; first-hand from the only living survivor."
