"Overall..... a terrible book. I mean, it had it's moments. It did a great job developing the backstory of Phantom Menace. It illustrated the details behind the "taxation of trade routes" that was the catalyst for the first film, and there were a few interesting scenes toward the end of the novel. However, the bulk of the book was filled with uninteresting characters, and it dragged on and on. I would like to give this novel a better rating, but I simply cannot.
Stars Wars novels seems to be either hit or miss with me so far. Perhaps the prequel-era authors feel the need to go high on exposition, that they forget how to keep the pace of the novel moving. I dunno..."
