"I thought it was pretty good. I haven't seen the new Star Trek yet and this is set up as a prequel to that. I'll see how the set up works when I watch the new movie. In general, though, I liked this pretty well. Maybe 3 and a half stars."
"As much as I'd like to say how GREAT it is to have the background to the new movie, it's a little disappointing. Kinda simple. I expected more. I like that it explains the tattoos on the Romulans, but other than that, there wasn't that much."
"A little light in my opinion, it read like the owners of the Star Trek brand were desparate to both cash in on the latest movie and have one last fling wih the ST:TNG crew. Unfortunately the story seemed to be hung on these cameo performances by NG crew members and not really on any significant plot. It's okay, and will be interesting for committed ST fans, but not the greatest story line out there."
"This is good as a tie-in with the movie, but not great as a stand-alone graphic novel. It's rather short and not very well-rounded plot-wise, but this is understandable due to the fact that it is a prequel of sorts. I was glad to see TNG characters make their cameos (Picard is just so darn cool!) and I liked the back story about Nero. It made him more believable as a villain. Overall, I liked it. Nothing too remarkable, but a good, quick read."
