"Set in posh San Francisco, California the Ashley Trio dominate Miss Gambles Preparatory Academy fore Girls. The three girls Ashley Li (Lilli), Ashley Alioto (A.A.) and Ashley are all rich, fashion forward, rich and the envy of the rest of the girls at the academy. Ashley Li (Lilli) seems to be gifted at whatever she attempts. In the book, she refers to herself as "only daughter," but later in the book we learn that she has 3-year-old twin sisters and two older sisters. Impolite and egotistical, she guards her place in the clique. Ashley Alioto (A.A.) is called as to distinguish her from the other Ashley's. A.A. is tall, appearing much older than her 12 year old friends. Less spoiled and stuck-up as the other Ashley's, A.A. has a good friend and a stepbrother who help keep her priorities straight. Ashley - the only Ashley called Ashley as she views herself as the number one. Rude, spoiled this girl will stop at nothing to secure her spot at the top of the social tier. She also has a peanut allergy, the one thing that spoils her perfect frontage to her peers.
Lauren-A rags-to-riches girl whose father hit it big in the TV industry, she lives large and enjoys wealth. Her goal is to take down the Ashley's and penetrate their clique. After all, they have been treating her like badly since kindergarten, so her turn at bat is due. But this year, the three Ashley's watch one girl step out of her limo looking like a movie star. Lauren has arrived at a new plateau, or so she hopes. Her plan is to infiltrate the Ashley's and then destroy them.
I first saw this book through my schools book fair, I thought it would be geared towards girls in their younger teens that enjoy reading "teen dramas." The author's style of reading fit very close to the vernacular of the young teen. I would compare and recommend this to people who enjoy reading The Clique, The A-List or Gossip Girl. From reading this book I drawed the conclusion that wealthly people have an equal amount of stigmas compared to middle-class citizens."
"... The Ashleys is an amazing book!! Its about 3 girls who yes,are all named ashley. They "rule" Miss Gamble's preparatory School for girls. They are gorgeous, rich and all about fashion. Lauren Page has gone to the same school with them for ever and the Ashleys have never let her forget all of the horriable things they did to her.
But now lauren Page has changed her look fom bargain clothes to top end fashion designer clothes and hand bags. Will she finally be able to join the Ashleys? Probaly not,but she will try her best to get back at them. Whatch out Ashleys,Lauren Page is after you!"
"Lauren Page, tired of being a loser, has received a makeover in an attempt to fit in at Miss Gamble's Preparatory School for Girls, so she can wiggle her way into the inner circle of the most popular girls at school, the Ashleys. She plans to break them apart and take charge as the new queen bee at Miss Gamble's. However, Ashley Spencer, the leader of the Ashleys, there by the only one that could go by the name Ashley, is not welcome to new friends. Ashley Li, nicknamed Lili, however feels sympathetic to Lauren for the way they've been treating her so she fills her in on a way to get on Ashley's good side. Being that they saw Lauren with their crush Billy Reddy she believes that if she can get them to spend time with him Ashley will be friendlier towards Lauren. It works when she asks him if she can bring friends with her to his game. Lauren invites them to fly on one of Lauren's dad's private jets to go shopping with her in LA and then sleepover her house that night. They have a great time, and Lauren finds herself beginning to want to be liked by them for she starts to actually to like them. The next morning Lili pranks her and the other Ashleys, a show of acceptance; however, Lauren at first thinks they all just pranked her, upsetting her to the point where she tells them how she really felt about them all along. The Ashleys are threw with Lauren. There is no sign of her as the big boy girl dance nears. Lauren really was on a trip with her family during which she gets over the big fiasco. At the dance Ashley Alioto aka AA goes to finally meet her online crush only to be stood up. She realizes however that he was really her long time friend Tri. Tri had apparently, gotten over his crush on AA and dances with Ashley during the dance. Suddenly, Ashley has an allergic reaction to a cupcake; luckily, Lauren saves her by giving Ashley her allergy shot. Funny thing is that Lili and AA as scared and worried as they were found themselves also relieved by the prospect of Ashley being gone. Yet, she is saved and AA is envious of her and Tri and Lili still longs to be her. The novel is written from the four characters' different point of views and the sequel is entitled Jealous?.
The characters and their relationships were well developed, especially since it was written from each characters' perspective, an original, creative choice. They had fun personalities, and it was an overall entertaining novel with an interesting, unpredictable, engrossing plot line. The suspense was soundly crafted; especially, by the mystery of AA's secret crush and the progression of Lauren's relationship with the Ashleys. I can't wait to read the next book."
"Teen fiction like Gossip Girl and The It Girl made me read this and I thought it would be actually as intense as those books. ;) But no, it's for younger readers."
