"I didn't like baseball when I started this book, and I still don't. But I can better appreciate what baseball fans do like - the longer ebbs and flows of the seasons, the moments when amazing players triumph or a team clicks in a big game. More importantly, I laughed and enjoyed almost all of the writing. Will definitely buy the Basketball book he's releasing this fall."
"My favorite sports book by my favorite sports wrier. This is the newest edition, so I just read the last 100 pages or so, which is all the updated stuff post-2004. This book is a collection of all of his columns about the Red Sox from since 1998 on, all the ups and downs, and then the final big BIG up of winning the World Series in 2004. I read parts of this book at least once a year.
And there's the column about the Patriots winning their first Super Bowl, thrown in there because that was a low time for Sox fans and he figures you need to have some happiness. And let me tell you, every time I read that chapter I almost cry. I'm not even kidding. I'm not a crier, but I cry over the Patriots - which is why I'm still not over them losing the Super Bowl two years ago, because there will never be my happy book to go to for the 19-0 season that never was.
But this is about the Red Sox, and I'm happy every time I read this."
