"Since I am a backyard birder, I found this biography of Phoebe Snitsinger, who at one time had the world's longest list of birds, most interesting. To say she was obcessive is an understatement. She began serious birding after the youngest of her four children had almost finished high school. However, with inherited wealth from her father, she sacrificed almost everything everything in her life, children, mother, husband, in her quest to see more birds than anyone on earth. the writin is somewhat dry, but i di denjoy the book."
"Read this and you'll understand why I go birding. This is a very amazing story of how one woman pulled her life together to give it meaning beyond kids and home. Health problems drove her to push her limits, seek out more difficult places, and face adventure as well as danger in pursuit of the rarities. An easy read."
"This is very well written and interesting biography about a women's obsession and drive. I love to bird, but can't say Phoebe's priorities were as admirable as her family's willingness to support her through the years of traveling and the trials and worries they must have faced. I am glad to know Dave found a mate that he can enjoy life with albeit at this late time of life."
"Excellent book, about the fascinating life story of Phoebe Snetsinger, who became the first person in the world to see over 8,000 of the world's 10,000 birds. Surprisingly readable - I actually had trouble putting it down! Especially enjoyable for anyone who enjoys travel and/or birding."
