"I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was very gentle and thoughtful and spoke about the creative process. After reading A Wrinkle In Time, I was very curious about this author and this satisfied that curiosity. I think I would really like her, but probably wouldn't agree with all her thoughts on Christianity/Theology."
"Recommended by Jamie. He read me several quotes in it and I couldn't help diving in myself.
This was an instant favorite (one of my top five fav's, if not top three). I was quickly drawn in by Madeline's greatness and took notes like crazy. I'll be back to this one time and time again. I've got a lot to learn from her.
The amazing Karen added this for her review and it was so perfect I'm going to steal it. "A great piece of literature does not try to coerce you to believe it or agree with it. A great piece of literature simply is" (A Cirlce of Quiet, pg 201). This book is."
"I first fell in love with Madeline L'Engle's autobiography/non-fiction books in college when I read Walking on Water. It became a top 10 book, one of those I pass on to most people, and I feel the same way about all other memoirs I have read by L'Engle. I told Justin when I finished that book that she makes me feel like I have had an important conversation with a good friend throughout the entire book. I love her- most of all I love her non-fiction and "children's"books."
"Beautiful. This book is basically Madeleine L'Engle rambling about various ideas in her mind, which to me makes it awesome. She was one of the formative authors of my childhood, and so it's fascinating to learn more about her as a person and see a little deeper into her ideas about family, religion, teaching, writing, and basically everything. Reading it made me really sad that I can't write her a letter to say what an impact her writing's had on me for so much of my life. It's the kind of book I want to send to the people I love, so they can love it too."
