"Justin Somper does it again. In this fantastic continuation of the Tempest Twin's Saga, he carries the pace of the story fast and without remorse, showing once again, he's not afraid to kill of characters and head full steam ahead into this tragic but lovely tale. I enjoy his works because they keep me on my toes. Too often I listen/read fiction that you can see whats going to happen to everyone and though it might be written well it bores you in its predictability. It isn't perhaps that Somper writes such trailblazing unpredictable vampire fiction, but perhaps that he writes sooo well that you find yourself so fully in the moment of the story that you don't want to day dream too far ahead to what will happen. You dwell solidly in the present of the characters feeling their struggles, laughs, and pains. But there are a lot of surprises in there. There were so many times that I was thrilled with an unexpected twist or layer to their story. I cannot, truly cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out. I hope everyone who reads childrens/YA fantasy will give Somper a listen/read. He's well worth your time."

Connor's new captain has been charged with eradicated the Vampirates while Grace is discovering just how tied she and Connor are to the vampirates. Connor is torn between two worlds and doesn't know why (he chose to leave Sanctuary before his mother could tell him the truth). Grace has never been torn and now she knows why she's always felt at home on the Nocturne. The knowledge and lack thereof drives a wedge between the twins that will undoubtedly come to a head in a future book. Daniel Philpott, who has read the other three books, is comfortable in this world, and makes us feel right at home. Listening to Siddorio fall in love with Vampirate Captain Lady Lola Lockwood was as comical as the juxtoposition with Siddoria and the twins' mother was sad. It's a highly entertaining series."
"I feel like these books, like the Fablehaven series, keep getting better. I really liked how this one delved into the history of the main characters and answered some questions about their origins. This was much more interesting to me than the pirate academy stuff that dominated the second book. I loved the quirky twists, and I look forward to the next one! Hopefully, it'll have more hot vampire romance in it."
