"A friend recommended "2nd Opinion" because she knew that there was a relative with asbergers syndrome and thought this would help me understand it better. A mystery involving a Father (Petros) and his 4 children: older brillant son undiagnosed but probably autistic who never felt loved by family; daughter(Thea) main character, a doctor who was diagnosed as a child with asbergers who found herself while working in Africa with Docotrs without borders; and twins who are also in medical field and look down on the other two. This has car accidents, murders, and other excitement coming at one very quickly. Add a little romance and a surprise and one gets a "good read".
Theas behavior reminds me of Brennan's characteristics on the TV show Bones."
"I probably wouldn't have picked this book up had I not been so desperate for books to read on vacation! But I'm glad I did; it's a fast paced medical thriller that was a good departure for me from the books I normally read. The main character is Thea Sperelakis, who has Asperger syndrome, which adds an unusual dimension to the novel. The author's son has it too, which he reveals at the end of the book where he has a Q&A about the syndrome. Thea is a doctor trying to find out about her father's hit and run, and whether it was really an accident and finds herself embroiled in a possible conspiracy. I wish I could give this 3.5 stars because I'm torn between 3 and 4! The book has its flaws but it was a good read, so I'll round up."
"I stopped reading this book when the author introduced the pastor who would rather kill himself than be caught in a homosexual affair. Come on, hasn't Hollywood done that one to death? Why can't a pastor ever be presented in fiction who isn't a bad stereotype? God forbid, (pun intended) that a Christian character actually act Christian. There are so many good books out there that I would rather read than this drivel."
"I've always liked Michael Palmer as an author. He's pretty good at drawing out the suspense and this book was more of the same. I totally did not see the ending coming or the WHO-DUNNIT at all. I also learned a great deal about Asberger's Syndrome. At the very end the author does a bit of questions and answers about the syndrome and how his son was diagnosed with it."
