"What can I say, I love SEP's books. And this one is no exception, even though I was bit torn if I should give it 5 stars or not. In the end, I gave it 4-4,5 stars. Simply because the beginning was - after all - a bit boring and it took me a while to get into the book and its story.
But once I was into it, I love it. I loved the idea behind it. Although I am probably the only one who didn't think of Brad, Angelina and Jennifer while reading this book. I am still not sure where this idea comes from. I did not see any resemblence at all. In fact, George reminded me more of Meg Ryan, or maybe even Julia Robert's because of her remarkable mouth. And honestly, the idea is not something that new and I suppose there were other couples before Brad and Angelina. So what?!
I liked the book, I liked the characters. I loved how Georgie discovered that Bram isn't so bad after all. ;) What I also like when reading SEP's books is that I liked the supporting characters. Like Aaron and Chaz. Chaz was just so great. LOL I always love it when the characters are bickering and bantering. :D
So yes, I enjoyed this book a lot. Especially the ending was really aww-worthy! :)
I am looking forward to SEP's new book. Which is, I guess, about Ted. So, we'll see."
"This book was really interesting to me. I liked Bram, for all his bad boy arrogance, and Georgie was interesting to watch grow. I liked their verbal sparring and how they finally fell in love. But some of the stuff didn't flow quite right for me. The sex stuff was handled pretty tastefully, but the same time it seemed ham-handed. Almost like the author was going along and decided "They're going to have sex now. Make it happen". I was so a little shocked at the SARS thing. I haven't heard of SARS for a long time. And the Jade talking on her phone before coming inside thing was never quite fully explained. I liked the ending though. I love that Chaz and Aaron got together and that Bram and Georgie got to have a little family. I also love that Bram was able to show her he didn't care about anything but her, even though she didn't get to play Helene. Overall I'd actually give the book a 3.5. I enjoyed it and may read it again sometime in the future, but it's not one I need to have a read repeatedly."
"The intro for this audiobook was dedicated to Anna Fields/Kate Fleming and it was heartbreaking to find that the brillant narrator for Phillips previous books passed away. She was amazing and will be missed. This audiobook had a new narrator, Julia Gibson, and she was pretty good, but doesn't hold a candle to Fields' work.
This was a fun book, taken much from the tabloids. A celebrity with a Brangelina type break up, a quickie wedding in Vegas after a night of partying and others. While some people didn't like it, I thought it was quite fun.
Skip and Scooter was a show that aired for 8 years and it's been 8 years since the series ended because of the undoing from the shows bad boy co-star Bram Shepard. Bram grew up in foster care etc, and surrounded himself with his so-called friends, whom he realized really weren't his friends before leading to the demise of his career.
Georgie York grew up as a child star, with a sensible dad and she's known as a very good girl and the world loves her, in spite of the fact that she's had a string of box office duds. SHe's recovering from a very public break up and has some self esteem issues, but has a great heart. She had a crush on Bram on the show and he treated her like complete dirt.
She and Bram HATE eachother. Beacause of a series of unfortunate events, they end up married and begin a marriage that is "based on deceit". Bram's changed and there's more to him than meets the eye and that begins to unfold.
Love the additional story line with her father, agent, Brams crazy house keeper, Georgie's nerdy personal assistant.
Nothing too deep here, but lot of fun and not as good as some of her other works. Looking for something light and fun, you'll like this."
"Story of a child star who grows up to a less successful film career. Everyone has her stuck in her childhood role, even though that's not who she is. Trying to win the love of a controlling father, she wants to do everything right, even when her life is falling apart around her.
Everything comes to a head when she accidentally marries the man who made her childhood career a nightmare, an actor she once idolized. Instead of getting a quick divorce, when they realize they'd been drugged and done a stupid thing, they decide to live together, each with their own agenda. The woman wants to save face. The man wants to rebuild his image so he can move on in his career, instead of getting type casted as the bad boy or loser boyfriend.
Together they figure out who they are and come to realize their strengths and weaknesses, and of course, love."
