"This is a great book for anyone who runs or wants to improve their running. I think it's probably encouraging even for those who think they CAN'T run. I have been trying to implement Dreyer's techniques, and for me running is still incredibly hard, but I am doing it! He stresses that the chi is in the journey and every run is an opportunity to practice all of the many techniques he teaches. I like his wholesome and healthy life approach. I will probably refer to this book in the future as I try to improve."
"A well-written and illustrated (with diagrams and photos) guide to improving anyone's running skills, with a focus on preventing injury, improving enjoyment, and prolonging the ability to engage in this type of activity. It changed the way I run and walk. No more heel pain."
"This book has completely changed the way I run. It makes so much sense! I wish I had heard about this sooner. I have a feeling that this book will be an important resource for me for years to come. I do have issues with a couple minor things: 1. He doesn't think strength training is necessary, but I think toning and conditioning have been an essential part of my fitness regime. Maybe you shouldn't strength train like a body builder, but toning can only be beneficial. 2. He does not believe in setting results-oriented goals. He says you should set body-oriented goals such as "To finish well in ultra marathons". Well how do you know if you have completed your goal if you have not set a pace or time goal? I understand his point that your goals should come from within you, but I think have a proper result-oriented goals can help further your training."
"Read along with Born To Run. He introduces a running style which is purportedly easier on the body and more efficient. Writing style is not fantastic and some things he says (you don't use your legs at all for propulsion) are absurd and almost made me put the book down. But you can overlook these things easily enough and get an idea of how this running style works. I'm curious about others books that describe effectively the same style. Such as one called Run Training for Triathletes by Ken Mierke, but I haven't looked at it yet."
