Brief Bio
John J. Ruszkiewicz was born in Cleveland, Ohio (1950) and earned his B.A. at St. Vincent College (1972) and his M.A. and Ph.D. at The Ohio State University (1973, 1977). He has been on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin since 1977, where he has taught rhetoric, Shakespeare and Renaissance literature. He served as Director of Freshman English (1982-86), chaired the University Admissions and Registration Committee (1995-96), served two terms on the Texas Union Board of Directors (1994-97/ 2001-04), and played a major role in creating the Division of Rhetoric and Composition (1993), now the Department of Rhetoric and Writing, which he chaired from 2001-05. He was President of the Conference of College Teachers of English of Texas from 1992-93. He is the author and co-author of numerous books on rhetoric and writing, including his latest book? How to Write Anything, forthcoming in 2009."
