"This story has it all; herioism, retribution, epic battles, redemption, heartbreak, and so much more. And, while it's over 700 pages long, it seemed to end far too soon. Fabulous story and fantastic end to Brent Weeks' Night Angel Trilogy.
-------------
I was totally and completely captivated by Brent Weeks' characters and the world-building in this series. The final story is all that it should be and I have no problem at all naming this series Epic. By turns I was entranced or horrified, but always, always involved by the events chronicled in the world of Midcyru. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in his next series; certainly can't come too fast enough for me or any other of his fans."
"A complex story line, with characters of depth and motivation. It has what most would term alot of swaring in it and at times can be horrificly graphic. Still its a sereice i will be adding to my own book shelfs once i find a hard back copy. The emotional drama of the books I felt was well worth it. I laughted and cryed, i even had to read some parts over because so much had happened in such quick sucsesion. The begining book was a bit of a bother to me with all the jumping around to astablish everyone and the plot lines but not so tedeus that i put it down. P.S. I apologize to the readers of my reviews for all of my many spelling erors. I cant spell worth a bean and this site dosent offer spell check."
"Like the previous book, this one is a love story wrapped in assassin packaging, following the paths of the lovers and everyone their path meets. It brings in things from the past that were hinted at in the previous books, but does so with a light hand that never goes overboard and leaves you just wanting to get onto the next part.
Actually, I think that's what made me give this book 5 stars. There was no scene or chapter where I got bored. Usually when I read books that follow more than one or two characters I can't wait to get back to the main character, but not so with this book. That may have something to do with the fast pacing, but more because all the characters are enjoyable. Over the top in a good way.
Beyond the shadows was fantastic; the best of the books. All the characters' parts played out well and everything came together excellently. Weeks still has an editing problem, but it's not quite as bad as in previous books. I think what I like about this book (and the other 2, but this one shows it off most) is the way Kylar bounces around like a ninja from an anime. It's very stylish and fun - pure escapism."
"Another book I found myself unable to put down. Halfway through the book, I didn't think there was any way Weeks could tie together all the random plot lines, but he did a surprisingly nice job of making it all fit and actually seem credible. I appreciated that more of the history of Durzo was provided, and really liked the framework of music he used for the conclusion of the final battle scene. I found the characters and plot so captivating, that I found myself dreaming about the plot for several nights. I look forward to re-reading this series in the future!"
