"Ryan Perry, your average rich guy with weirdo problems. One of my friends owns this book! I checked it out of the library it was on the "Books that are recommended" section I guess you can call it that...Anyhow from beginning to end I've never had a book captivate me so much as this book did! (Maybe I'm not reading enough?) But, this author is truly amazing! <3 The cover deceives you because when I was half way through the story I thought to myself "Okay this guy just told me about the girl who's in the cover...?" And I thought for sure she was going to be the bad guy, so it confused me even more when Cathy came along. Then I thought like Ryan that they were working together or something but again...I was wrong. -sigh- I guess it was because I was going for a "common scene" answer but got a non-common answer...I guess. Anyhow, you can say that this is just one of those books that's nice to read when your in the mood of a little bit of mystery I know it had me reading for quite some time...ALTHOUGH the ending was wack (Oh watch out I just used a slag word) :O In all seriousness the end was terrible for me but the book in general totally worth reading no matter the way it ended. (In my opinion) ^___^"
"Things start to get weird after Ryan Perry receives a heart transplant. Is someone after him, or is he imagining things. Lots of mystery and fear, but what’s really going on, and why? This novel has an underlying message that Ryan doesn’t get until the end of the novel. Good reading that can keep you guessing."
"He mentions - yes, only mentions - golden retreivers twice, and an irish setter once.
I enjoyed the Poe tie-in, I thought it was well done. Especially at the start of it when I was thinking that it had a lyrical quality like Poe's stuff. You know the tap, tap tapping; the gentle rapping, something like that. Now I think I need to pick up some Poe.
Overall I enjoyed the story and once it got going, the suspense built nicely. He develops the characters well, delves into the psyche of the MC who needs a heart transplant and begins a trip down paranoid lane secretly accusing everyone of being out to poison him because he has such a hard time believing that anything could naturally be wrong with him. The little creep outs with things appearing and then disappearing had me wondering what was going to happen next.
The narrator did a wonderful job, particularly with the cadence of the novel and the treatment of lyrical Poesian bits."
