"Where the Heart Leads is about a Mennonite boy, Thomas, from Kansas who graduates from a college in Boston and the decisions that he must make after that. With a girl in both Kansas and Boston it left me torn not knowing until the very end who I truly wanted Thomas to end up with"
enjoyed the personal conflicts, and the bit of history tossed in
doesn't matter who are, nor what color, nor what religion ... we have SSOOO much in common!!! why are so many others SSOOO blinded by hate and fear of differences that we must "box" people into categories, and "box" ourselves into boundaries, and ...
and yet, still try and call ourselves "Christ-ians"?! what's so Christ like about THAT??? too many Christians are so NOT like Him!!! 8^("
"Where the Heart Leads was a good historical novel. Set in the early 1900's, it's the story of Thomas Ollenburger and how he wants to spend his life after college. The story itself was ok, if not predictable and if I can tell it's predictable, well, let's just say I usually can't pick up on that.
For most of the story, I ended up rooting for the underdog (I won't spoil it). So the ending was a bit disappointing in that respect. Thomas is a fabulous character who really doesn't know what he wants, a classic case in most people his age. Religion plays a HUGE part in his life, something I hadn't seen coming. There was nothing about it in the summary, but it was pleasant all the same, seeing how he worked it into his everyday life and how devoted he was.
I guess I don't read many romances, so this was a little boring for me. I'm used to action packed suspense mysteries. Granted, there were times in this book I was like, "What's going to happen next?", but it was definitely a lot calmer than my normal books. Four Stars."
