"Eh. Not really what I was looking for--suitable only for very basic fitting (lengthen sleeves, torso, legs, full bust adjustment). Not suitable for uncommon alterations (pants-that-fit-weighlifters'-quads, for instance), nor for diagnosing what exactly it is causing that wrinkle in your muslin."
The pin-and-pivot alteration system is appealingly simple, but it isn't specific or precise enough for tailored fittings. It's fine for less-fitted, casual clothing and minor fitting issues (I plan to try it to take out the shoulder-pad allowance on some vintage patterns, since Hell will freeze over before I wear shoulder pads again. The Eighties were time enough), but I don't think it will be equal to making a commercial pants pattern fit my righteously pear-shaped self.
If you need serious alteration help, try one of the Sandra Betzina books instead. Her methods are more complex but also more specific, and even her "cartoon" illustrations are better than the ones in this."
