"this book brings a major charactors back ground up front and answers alot of questions, about Ash. Action pack and moving as all the previous ones in this series. Hard to put down."
"Honestly..this book had so many good reviews that I was suprised how much I didn't like it. The first half was seriously depressing. I knew it was going to be intense, but in my opinion a little overkill. I agree with a couple others that Tory lacked the substance in a heroine..especially for our beloved Ash. I just kept thinking really this chic? Also I thought Katra would be in the second half more. Why isn't she supporting Ash or standing up to Artimes? This is her father after all. I loved seeing him in the father role in Devil May Cry and then she was mostly absent from the present day part of Acheron? I just didn't understand that at all. I love the DH Series and this one just didn't do it for me."
"It takes a god (literally) to understand the abuse mankind can inflict on those they consider weaker or different. Acheron holds that special something that many humans lack . . . compassion. While children and adults alike think it's fun to pick on or torture those they consider weaker than themselves, they do not understand the emotional scars that run deep.
It takes true character to put your own hurts and insecurities aside to help those who need it. Acheron has demeaned himself for over eleven thousand years because he didn't think anyone deserved the pain he's had to endure. He holds those degradations deep within his soul, never trusting, always afraid of being mocked by a truth he had no control over. Ash sacrifices his happiness and dignity to offer assistance to those who need it. He pays in " flesh and blood" for every kindness he bestows upon those he feels a kindred spirit to.
Never knowing a kind touch ( except from his Simi) he has such an immense character to be able to give others what he was denied.
Unlike real life this story has a somewhat happy ending. Although Ash's inner demons haunt him.
After all we can place those demons deep inside but one word, one look, and they rush back to the surface with a vengeance. Acheron makes the best of his life and experiences."
"This is, as far as I am concerned, the best DH book so far. Kenyon didn't hold back when it came to giving Ash a very complete persona and background. I loved it. Ash is completely a "live" character now.
The point of Ash is that he had to suffer through living as a human and he was treated horribly, far worse than any child we have in our society now. And he lived thru it, managed to love the race that abused him enough that he let himself be abused more at the hands of a Goddess who had betrayed him and gotten him killed all because he had loved her.
That's Huge!
No one deserves a love more than him."
