"I definately liked this one a lot better than the first and am glad that I kept reading the series after thinking the first one was just, ehh. I liked getting more background about the Blue Bloods and their eveolution. I really thought it was interesting how the family lines were, that was something that I didn't expect.
I was glad that Schuyler went looking for her grandfather and the way things developed there. I think there will be more to come with that.
I am not sure how I feel about Schuyler and Oliver now that their relationship has changed. I think that she was right in thinking that she shouldn't have taken it that one step farther, he really loves her and she will never feel that way about him. He will only end up getting hurt.
I maybe one of the few that don't care for Jack. For some reason he just seems smarmy to me. He is supposed to have an immortal bond with Mimi (who I can't stand), but he still lusts after Schuyler. I think in the end Jack will only look out for himself and be damned about anyone else. While Mimi does drive me nuts with her selfishness, I do feel sorry for her. All she wants is to reconnect with Jack and I am sure that won't happen.
And Bliss, well she is just a mess. I am not sure what is going on there, especially with the ending. She does seem to have troubles that the others don't have.
Finally, what was up with all those newspaper clippings??? In the end I wasn't sure what we were supposed to think about those. Was Maggie a Blue Blood, that was taken and killed by a Silver Blood? In another way it seemed like she was Bliss, but if that was the case and she died and had no blood left how is that possible? I'm just really confused about that, but looking forward to the next book."
"Masquerade by Melissa De La Cruz, is a book about a girl named Schuyler Van Alen. She lived with her grandmother who died, but now she lives with her grandfather. This book takes place in upper Manhattan. Schuyler's main internal struggle is that she misses her mother who is in a coma. Her main external struggle is that Mimi Force wants to get rid of her.
During my time reading this book I made a text-to-text connection. There was this part throughout the book where Mimi decided she wanted to destroy Schuyler. That reminded me of Betrayed. In the book Betrayed the main character Zoey also has some trouble with a girl. That girl wants to also get rid of Zoey. Even though someone wants to get rid of them, they know that they are others that truly care for them. They learn that there are people who truly love them.
I would give this book 5 stars. This was such a good book. I loved the way everything tied in together. I also loved how the climax continues to increase. I would recommend this book to someone who read the first book Blue Blood. I would also recommend this book to someone who has heard of the book. (That's how good it is.)"
"It is official. I LOVE this series. The haters can continue hating. It's so hard to put it down. Especially now that I have grown to like Schuyler. Plus I read how the vampires in this book are different form the others. They are so not typical undead, they are actually fallen angels banished from heaven. Yes, like Lucifer. There' also other angels involved like Michael, Gabrielle, Abbadon and Azrael. But I am not saying who they are. That my friends' are for you to find out.
Fast paced, suspenseful, and thrilling. Book 2 possessed a stronger plot, twist that will make you say Whhhaaat?!, what's hot and what's not in fashion (ex: BobiAnne's head to toe LV attire. Lol) and the insightful knowledge about the histories (or at least snippets of it) of our main characters. Some of their histories were revealed to, making me more aggravated that I have not bought the 3rd book yet. Is Schuyler and Bliss really sisters? What's up with Jack Force? (he is making me mad), is Allegra ever going to wake up from her self-induced coma? And now that Charles Force adopted our heroine, what heartaches and trouble will she get into this time?"
"To me this book was better than the first book... it just simply got better. I loved how everything is just coming into play.
How you are left wondering who is doing what and what is going on. I am usually one that catches on things pretty easily and this book has its turns. You are left wondering things and later they come out to play, and of course things aren't fully explained til later. Which is fine.
In this book you really find out about Jack and Mimi and what their real connection is. They have been together since the start. You learn why Mimi hates Schuyler soo much.
Schuyler's mom broke the rules and married her human familiar which was taboo. Allgeria was suppose to be with Charles but she refused him. And now she lays in a coma because she refuses to take blood from another familiar. Sure it is ina way sweet that she will only allow herself one person to touch her life but still... she left her daughter.
Now we have Jack some might say he is selfish with him going after Schuyler when we all know his duty and all belongs to Mimi it is how it is suppose to be. But honestly yes granted Allgeria landed herself in a coma because she went after what she wanted... but Schuyler is a blue blood a new blue blood.
Jack doesn't have to do is vow til he is 21, and honestly he seems to really adore Schuyler maybe yes it is because her mom is part of her and he has always wanted light... what is really so wrong with that? Yes even though it isn't who he is but yeah... anyways.. back on topic.
I liked how Schuyler saves Mimi's life from sure death... and you know that her saving Mimi will come to play later in the series... and I personally can't wait for it.
Laurence, Schuyler grandfather finally comes into play in this book and at first we are lead to believe he isn't coming and he doesn't show at first but he comes through when Schuyler needs him most only sad thing is at the end of the book we find out Schuyler is moving in with the Forces... it shall be interesting."
