"I really liked this one. Far better than Everyone Worth Knowing, although I think Devil still wins. So perhaps I was a bit influenced by the story being about three 30-year-old women who are still single & having the time of their lives. It was easy to relate to, haha. But it was still a fun read - I find Weisberger to be certainly more highbrow than a lot of other "chick lit". She crafts far better stories than just the run-of-the-mill "girl is miserable and alone until the man of her dreams sweeps her off her feet and they fall madly in love and are married by the end of the book" recipes. She always emphasizes very strong, independent women who are out to figure out what THEY want from life - not what everyone tells them they should want. I find that refreshing. And I love that not everything was tied up in a neat little bow by the end of the book - the girls were, realistically, still facing some struggles, as happens in life, but were making the best of things. I think the title & cover initially turned me off a bit - it making it seem like it was a story about ring-chasing - but it all worked out to be quite a good read."
"Reading this book is like eating potato chips. They might taste good at first, and go quickly, but ultimately they make you feel a little sick and mad at yourself for wasting your time.
If you like "chick lit" (I kinda hate that term), there are PLENTY of other superior choices out there. Go and read one of them.
Also, there were so many brand names in this book that it made me wonder if the author was being paid for product placement. I also find it amusing that she has her editor character (sidenote: stereotypical chick lit authors always have a character who is an editor!) reading "something blue," a book in the same genre, but with much more plot and character development than this one.
I'm mad at myself for buying a book with pretty sparkly rings and a big spike heel on the cover - why didn't I see that this would be a bad idea?
I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because "4 blondes" by Candace Bushnell is my required level of suck before I give a book 1 star - and it wasn't that bad."
