"I am not a quilter by any means but I can look on the craft with admiration for the crafter. To take the kind of time it takes to make a quilt would kill me I need instant gratification. This book opens your eye's and your heart to the world of quilting and the people that find a part of their lives. There are several friends who all have a history just like the pattern of the winding ways block quilters use with many colors and texture's. It is a really heart worming book.
"This story even had the voice over at the end of each characters perspective in an attempt to tie it together, but somehow it didn't do much more than string one along in a confused fashion as Sylvia seemed to be working on a lot of quilts and I couldn't sort out how that was possible. The collection seemed like such a great display though. As always I would love to see the quilts being described but know that they are words not actual objects."
"This book gives more depth on each of the original Elm Creek quilters. There is a chapter for each which mostly goes into how they started quilting. It takes place during quilt camp during the summer that Judy and Summer are leaving - with Judy and her family moving and Summer heading off to graduate school. The tie in is the Winding Ways quilt that Sylvia is making."
"I LOVE this book. It took me forever to read because of other things in my life but this is what I loved most. Not only is it a book about quilters and quilts of which I am learning bits and pieces (no pun intended) but it is about the bond and friendships between women. As I read this, I was sad to think that I have very few of these bonds in my life but my desire for 'friends' is strong. Someone to be there when times are rough and people I can help through their rough times. The relationships between women is interesting to me and by reading this book I found myself yearning to be at a Quilt Camp somewhere with friends that I could trust."
