"Since To Kill a Mockingbird is my very favorite book (I even named my cat Scout), I was glad to see this nonfiction title on our YA lit class list. It clarified details about Lee's life without getting caught up in the morbid fascination with her as a "recluse". I think even she would be proud."
"This was a re-write by the same author for a lower reading level. I think the information and presentation was effective. I don't think all the chapters on Truman Capote was necessary since the book is about Nelle. It still seems Truman gets all the attention. Since it was for children some details of Nelle's personal life was obviously left out. Overall is it a great companion to the reading of To Kill A Mockingbird Bird"
"An interesting biography written in an interesting style that really made me want to learn more about Harper Lee. I know that the book is part speculation of who she really is, but that is what makes it interesting. The only criticism I have is it really didn't capture the success and ideas of To Kill A Mockingbird (which is the most perfect book ever written, if I could write a story half as good I die a happy person)"
