"This book has a very well thought-out selection of stories and texts addressing some of the central ideas and concerns of what we call hinduism. Me and my teacher (as teaching assistant and teacher) found it particularly useful in Indian Religions courses to better illustrate some points or topics from Hinduism or to let students read source texts and discuss such points. It also helped quite a bit in better familiarising myself with certain ideas before having to explain them to new students. The Appendices make it particularly useful for the teacher and interested student or researcher alike. They feature not only bibliographical notes, explanations and commentaries, but also a glossary and index of names which serves as a quick reference. Be sure to read the Introduction as well."
