"This is the 26th book in the series and the first I've read. It was fantastic and I will certainly be reading the rest. I normally start at the beginning of a series, but with this one it doesn't matter. Ms Robb's writing is such that the characters just flow, their complexities seem normal. You don't feel you've missed something vital from previous books. I will certainly be checking out her other books in all the names she writes under."
"Lt. Eve Dallas of the New York Police and Security Department is called to the scene of a murder where it appears philanthropist Thomas Anders died during a kinky sexual encounter. Evidence suggests the victim was sedated at the time of his demise and a lapse in the security system's recordings signifies this was not an accidental death. Eve quickly hones in on a suspect but can find nothing to connect the killer to Anders at the time he died. But this doesn't stop the lieutenant, who uses everyone at her disposal, including husband billionaire Roarke, as she meticulously unravels the mystery being Anders's death.
This series attracts many fans, and for a good reason. Robb's writing is tight, flows well, and she offers characters her fans have grown to love. The mystery is a good one, with plenty of twists and turns, and, as always, Eve Dallas's intense personality and mindset pull the reader along with her as she seeks to resolve a mystery she takes personally."
"One of the later (or more recent, I guess) Eve Dallas & Roarke books. The mystery in this is rather strongly based on the concept of Strangers on a Train, as you can guess by the title. It was a good, tight mystery in this one, and I like Eve & Roarke in this later stage of their marriage - they're more interesting, and their relationships with their friends are more interesting. (Someone's getting married, oooh!)"
"Maybe it's because I've read about 22 of these in a row, but the "spark" is starting to die a bit. GASP! I mean, I still LOVE these books, but I feel like the last few haven't had enough at stake emotionally for the main characters. The conflict in their relationship really drove the first dozen or so. I'm hankering for some head-butting between the two leads so they can "make up" after, hehe. :)"
