"The first 2/3 of this book are great but towards the end I completely lost interest due to the fact the last one hundered pages could have been cut down to twenty pages or less. Also, some supporting characters are flat and interchangable. Even the main characters, including the Vampire Huntress herself, seem flat.
There are, however, several likable aspects of this book. Banks has two love stories, a young woman love story and an older woman love story. It's nice to see that in a novel. Too often only younger characters are allowed to be in love. Banks also has the older woman, Marlene, be the focal point in a love triangle.
Banks has sex scences, but she also examines the ramifications of sex. You have a night passion instead of doing your duty, there is a price to be paid. Too often writers have characters engage in behavior or actions without any real effect. Think of how many times characters have unprotected sex without getting pregnant. Here there is great supernatural passion, but also a call back to reality."
"This book had some whirlwind adventures, action-packed kick-butt scenes towards the end, and the interesting creatures introduced in this book (were-demons, were-creatures, and were-humans). Some were bitten, instead of sending their souls to hell and become as were-demons, they were were-humans. I had to take my time on these passages to get a clearer understanding of the transitions and their majestic powers. I was most intrigue at the every end, last 100 pages or so."
