"This is the third Kenyon book I've read and that's all my library has and I don't like them enough to pay money for them. I liked this book a little bit more than the first one I read because in between I read Acheron and am now able to figure out what was going on in her imaginary world without working so hard my head ached. However, I just can't get my head or nauseous stomach around the idea of any of the good guys and gals sucking blood. I wish the series would leave that crud to the villains."
"The book was enjoyable but not like earlier books. Like Dark Side of the Moon, it just fell short. The story seemed rushed and shallow. I was loving this series and while I have the next two, I am hesitant to start them. There was a great deal of repeating things that really annoyed me. It was like filler. I don't think they have any of the heart that was in the earlier books. It was an easy read but it was difficult to see. Some of her earlier books really flowed well and they played a fun and entertaining metal movie. This one didn't. The characters were just too flat. I especially expected more from Ash and Artie and Kat."
"I really wanted to love this book, I really did. I borrowed this from my cousin Sara, but sorry, I just didn't love it!! :(
So, things I didn't like about this book:
1. 11,000 years of chastity...really? Um no, I don't think that was possible. Really?! (plus the sexy time wasn't all that great compared to other books I've read)
2. You kept your daughter from knowing her father for 11,000 years?! Really?! Again, I'm speechless here. But I will admit the meeting of the two was special and made me tear up a little.
3. The ending...seriously. It was a little too cheesy and tied up for me. Normally I love books that tie it all up and have that kind of classic ending, but this one...just too much.
4. Artemis is a "bitch-goddess" like they call her in the book. Wow, just wow.
5. The Charonte demons (Simi mainly) drove me nuts. Probably because I just don't know what the deal is with them so I was lost.
I think partly because it was so far in the series I was so lost. There was soooo much that I was like huh? and eventually I think I got it and it was explained better, but wow. I was just so lost. I think that after I read more in the series I should read this again and it might be better!"
"Another tortured soul at the hands of the narcissistic Artemis. Always out for herself Artemis doesn't care who stands in her way as long as she gains more power and has power over others. She thrives on subjugation. There are two people in Artemis's life she cares for and she has no idea how to show love or kindness, all she knows is the power she desires. Sin is in her way, she fears that her lies will be revealed. So she does what she normally tries to do, get rid of the problem. Unfortunately for her the two people she "cares" about stand in her way. Sin is full of hate and mistrust, as he should be, Artemis really did him wrong. In her anger and manipulations the truths are revealed."
