"Das hier gehört definitiv zu den bescheuertsten Stück Fantasy, die ich gelesen habe. Ich habe die ersten beiden Kapitel gelacht und das Buch danach nie wieder gelesen."
"Bransen is the highwayman, a robinhood like figure who steals form those in power and gives to the poor. He is the enemy of some, but is thier creation. Born from two unique cultures, he also has the magic from the two making him a powerful figure. This is the begging of the Highwayman, the first king.
It seems like instead of provinding a back story to the next book, "The Ancient" Salvatore decided to write a more detailed description of his main protagonist which turned into this book. Bransen is very likable, the reader learns to root for him and there seems like he will get more character develoment in furutre books. Salvatore gives a classic theme, only wrapped up in this setting. That of a bruce wayne/batman persona with a robin rood badit thrwon in. This seems a little bit cheesy due to its unoriginality. But the more we come to love the Highwayman, the more we can forgive that. Also thier is a extreme lack of much world buliding, though this book's sole pupose is to introduce us to Bransesn this still annyoys me. I have not read Salvatore's prevesu books et in the world of corona but you only get to see the town of pyrd and the monostary of mystics from the east. In the end though the actions scens is where salvatore excels, and we come to root and yern for Bransen. I am eargly looking for the nest book. A.W"
"The story of The Highwayman was a brilliant read. It was hard to put the book down. Salvatore accomplished another wonderful story about the land of Corona. It started out with Bran, an Abellican monk, going as a missionary to the land of Behr where he fell in-love with Sen Wi, a Jhesta Tu mystic. Bran being from Honce had light skin, while Sen Wi from Behr was dark. They realized how their religions worked together to be one amazing and true religion. Bran saw how wonderful the teachings of Jhest were and wanted to share what he learned about them with his fellow monks. Him and his new wife took off for the land of Honce and Bran's home to find out the monks and Laird were not that accepting.
Things went on from there about a boy who went from being this messed up kid that could barely walk and was always made fun of to a type of hero to the peasants. You could say the Highwayman was a type of Robin Hood, but he had many more trials to overcome.
I would only recommend it to adults though. There were some pretty horrible scenes in the book. Still worth the read though."
"Another book I picked up when I was away from other options. This one wasn't worth even the minimal time I invested in it before I set it aside. A forgettable story, with a complicated yet boring plot. Way too much back history, not enough to draw the reader along. I suppose that for someone who enjoys fantasy worlds more than I, this might have been a more interesting novel, but it wasn't for me. Going to stop writing now...it's not worth the time I've already put into it."
