"The science was interesting. The plot was little weak without making the characters seem real. I enjoy stories that play with time if done with few holes. this book had too many holes in how time was manipulated. The computer could speed up time to accomplish things. If the people really are in space and time is sped up to make the trip take less time should not time have also sped up for them. If time can be sped up with no ill effect why not allow reversal of time which would make the ending easier? Maybe there is a science reason, but it was not mentioned."
"What a treat! Scientist Stephen Hawkings teamed up with his daughter Lucy to create what is probably the most fun science book ever written. It's written for kids, but adults will learn plenty, too, especially if you're a total non-science person like me. There's enough adventure in the story to keep you on the edge of your seat, and mixed in is plenty of science fact: the difference between mass and weight; details about the planets; how black holes work. There are beautiful pictures from outer space, too. But for me, the most enjoyable part of all, and it was a total thrill, was seeing my kid turned on to science."
"Noble read this book and finished it, which means it was GREAT. He starts books but doesn't always finish them because they don't hold his attention. This is what he had to say about it: "I like books that keep you excited and make you think - 'ooh, I am so excited to know what the next part is' or like someone might die, but they don't and the ending is almost perfect!""
"I wasn't too impressed with this book--but i'm not a sci-fi fan. I read this with malachi and he loved it though. it has some good things for kids to learn about the universe. My kids are fascinated by stephen hawking, who co-wrote this book. IT strongly portrays his theory of finding another planet for humans to live on. This idea is goofy to me. He is also the leading expert on black holes, and malachi loves to learn about black holes, which this book talked about."
