"England, 1848 In the process of trying to locate her wayward brother who seems bent on self destruction, Amelia Hathaway found herself in a Gentlemen's Club. Cam Rohan knew as soon as Amelia walked into the room, she was not just any women, he knew he had to help her find her brother and then hopefully avoid the consequences of the thoughts he was having about her. Cams 'good luck curse' made him long for the freedom of the Gypsy lifestyle while the string of bad luck that the Hathaway family was in seemed to be getting worse and Amelia had to take control to make sure the whole family (Leo, Amelia, Winnifred, Poppy, Beatrix and Merripen) survived. Finding themselves in the same area again, Cam found he could not stop trying to help Amelia, while Amelia struggled to maintain control, she seemed relieved to find someone who was finally willing to really help her when she needed it, even if she didn't realize that is what she wanted.
Book 1 ... The characters in this book are wonderful, the strength of both Amelia and Cam shine leaving me to want to know more (luckily 'Seduce Me at Sunrise' delivers that and more). The struggles Amelia has in keeping her family together are sometimes tough but she handles all of them with such kindness (even the lizards) that you can see the love for her family (including Merripen and all his surliness). Cam is a great complex character, a bit of humor, some confidence and a lot of luck, this is the type of character that I enjoy watching as he realizes the depth of his feelings and what it actually means to him, and then ....... there is what he does about it. There is a bit of a paranormal twist, just a small part, but it may prove to be the turning point for the Hathaway family. This is the first book of the Hathaway family series"
"Another 5 stars from my favorite historical romance author! This is a light read, nothing series, doesn't drag and it has a sense of familiarity because of the recurring characters from the Wallflowers Series. I especially enjoyed reading about Sebastian and Evie again, and the way Lilian makes Westcliffe laugh just by being herself. Lisa Kleypas really created the atmosphere of the reader being there in that time period and because of the characters, although titled, are just like the rest of us, who're not restricted to formalities, the characters are not high and mighty, they have flaws. I definitely agree with the others that Cam wasn't really meant for Daisy, he's too powerful a character and he would overwhelm and dominate, that's why Amelia Hathaway is the perfect match for him. She's level-headed and mature, and necessarily overbearing. Between them, there's a sense of balance, like a good luck meeting bad luck, and the way fate brought them together. Love scenes are hot! Enough said about that, and I can't help but love Cam, the way he's described, he's really drool-worthy. I'd definitely read this again, and start on the next in this series with another intriguing pair."
"Lisa Kleypas is just the best. I seriously, seriously love her. She has a phenomenal writing style and witty tone that I have come to cherish. This was the start of a new series that promises to be fun, and we got to revisit beloved character Cam Rohan from the Wallflowers series. His heroine is Amelia, eldest sister of the cursed, eccentric Hathaway family, five quirky siblings who have been recently struck by tragic deaths close to them. A move to the country where only brother Leo has inherited an estate to go with his new title brings the hope of a new start.
Amelia and Cam are opposites in every way. He is the half-Gypsy fighting the routine of normal, every day life. She is the structured manager of her family and everything in her control. Cam is as charming as when we met him before, and in typical Kleypas style, he is a hero to die for as he goes above and beyond to help the Hathaways and thus win Amelia's heart.
I don't think Kleypas can tell a bad story. She writes in unique, humorous moments that you don't often get in historicals. My main issue is that connection between Daisy and Cam in the Wallflowers books. I still wonder how that could've gone, and I'm not totally convinced that I would have chosen Amelia as Cam's heroine. Also, the supernatural, though appropriate I suppose because of the fact that this series is mired in Gypsy lore, was a little strange. The set-up of the family does take a lot of time away from the development of the romance, and Amelia isn't quite as easy to love as Cam is. Still good, but what I'm really excited about is book 2 with fragile invalid Winnifred and the adopted Gypsy brother Merripen. This is one of my favorite types of stories, and Win and Merripen are set up so well in this book."
"Im a Japanese studying English in Australia. This was the first book I have read in English in my life. I am the big fan of Lisa Kleypas since I was in japan(of course, though I always read her books in Japanese......) Moreover,Reading her books in English was one of my dreams! But after finishing this book, honestly,I was a little disappointed. There are lots of seanes about the Hathaways, but for me,its too much. And I didnt think this one was better than her other books. Although I might change my mind after reading this in Japanese after going back to Japan in the future.... But the one thing Im very interested in was about Meripen! Im really looking forward to reading the second episode of The Hathaways!"
