"The pre-Barnabas book are always great. Victoria was simply ment for the gothic novel genre. This is one of the better ones and actually has the reader beleiving that Victoria may actually find out the truth about her parents. A lot of mysteries are solved but not that one. This being one of the earlier novels it has both Burke and Ernest. For those who don't know Ernest he's Elizabeth and Roger's cousin. He was never on the show but played heavily in the novels. The brooding violinist and Victoria made an excellent pair. This is one of Victoria's most more exciting adventures. Her feeling for Burke and Ernest add tension to the novel."
