Outstanding

by Curmudgeon on Sep 6, 2012

Highlights conflicts of a highly intelligent woman in society, often overlooked, subjugated, suppressed by the dominant male culture. Society has an inherent obligation to nurture the creative talents of all people, thus providing potential and dynamic growth into the unforeseeable future. Nothing else matters. Inherent, innate intelligence lights the way forward. Total acceptance. Nothing less. Nothing better.

I love audiobooks. Is this one good? Any others?

Have anyone listened to this audiobook? If so, is it any good? Are there other good audiobooks you'd recommend. I like mystery, sci-fi, and suspense books on audio, but prefer to read fiction and other literary stuff where the writing quality can be noticed better. Any suggestions?

Why the 100 page "hump"?

Why is it that when you read some books it feels like you're trying to gain the author's respect before they'll actually start telling their story? I've experienced this first 100 page "hump" in several books I've ended up enjoying but I've never gone back and thought "oh, I can't wait to read those ... Read more

. An in-depth view of our sick sadistic, misogynistic society.

The original title, "Men who hate Women" is more to the point. I think too many men do and they like to hurt women because of some jealous, Freudian thing in their nature. Women don't hate men though or they would quit making more of them. Can't quite understand what women do see in us. There's ... Read more

Is this series really worth the time?

I've heard mixed reviews - people who did not like, said they couldn't even finish it. Anyone out there say it's really worth the read?

Fun read, guilty pleasure, or just guilty?

I've enjoyed the whole series (well, so far -- I've just popped open the third book), but have to admit it's a weird mix at times: empowered women, or somewhat misogynistic? Nora Ephron did a great spoof in the New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/humor/2010/07/05/100705sh_shouts_ephron
