Brilliant!

by RufusH on Jul 24, 2012

A fascinating historical account of the plains indians, and the Comanches in particular. Brutal, honest, and filled with facts and explanations of the why and wherefore of all aspects of indian life and their white pursuers, which eventually results in their subversion. Hard to put down!

Quanah Parker story needed to be told

by caslater on Jun 7, 2012

Quanah Parker's story is well told. He played an important role in the final years of the Comanche nation. At the same time when he recognized the scope of the European migration that was far stronger and more advanced in technology and resources than his people could ever rest he lead his people towards more education. When I was student at Okla. State Univ. I was living in a new dormitory that the powers that be were reluctant to name and simply called it Dorm-B. The residents took it on them selves to find a name and chose Quanah Parker Hall. The residents cheated their mailing addresses to Parker Hall and soon all the mail was coming to that address and eventually the University officially changed the name. Then the Parker family brought in a picture and mounted it in the lobby.

This book is very interesting and well researched. We have dozens of books on Native Americans and this one is the best!
