A great showcase for Gaiman's skill

by Norms on Feb 7, 2008

This is a great collection of short stories by Neil Gaiman, and I think really showcases what his writing is all about. Stories range from the whimsical to the horrifying, and Gaiman draws from a wide range of sources, such as the Holy Grail and H.P. Lovecraft. Gaiman certainly has a touch in finding the magical in the mundane, and quite a number of his stories are the things of nightmares (foremost among these a story that will change the way you thought about a certain fairytale). There are a few stories that slow the pace (mainly his poems), but there are enough gems in this collection to warrant it's purchase.
