Very Good. No Dj. 8vo. pp. 288, "Short and snappy as it is, Stephen King's On Writing really contains two books: a fondly sardonic autobiography and a tough-love lesson for aspiring novelists. The memoir is terrific stuff, a vivid description of how a writer grew out of a misbehaving kid. You're right there with the young author as he's tormented by poison ivy, gas-passing babysitters, uptight schoolmarms, and a laundry job nastier than Jack London's. It's a ripping yarn that casts a sharp light on his fiction."previous owners name on verso of front cover.
Very Good + No DJ. 12mo = 7-9" 288 pp. Trade paperback. First trade edition. Very clean with tight binding. "A fascinating look at the evolution and redemption of one of the hardest-working storytellers writing today."-USA Today.
Great book for an aspiring writer, and without the lengthy dialogue that King is so famous for.

The Teacher King
Great book, one which I've read several times and quoted in my college writing classes.

A writer's writer
I could have skipped the first 100-page autobio, though I learned some tnings, but what came after that was invaluable to me in its insights to King's ideas about good -- and bad -- writing. Would I recommend it to a friend? I already have, to a couple, who write -- and it was recommended to me by one of the greatest young writers in America.

Heart of Creativity
Steven King presents a memoir that includes instructions on what an aspiring writer should notice. Mastery of language is a core development in a writer. King shows the way.

A Must for New Writers.
Before reading this I don't think I actually realized how valuable a good edit can be. As a Stephen King fan, I had to learn from the creator of some of the most riveting fiction for over 35 years and I did! This book taught me when and why to make necessary changes and gives you personal glimpses into his life.
