When the unconventional Durrell family can no longer endure the damp, gray English climate, they do what any sensible family would do: sell their house and relocate to the sunny Greek isle of Corfu. "My Family and Other Animals" was intended to embrace the natural history of the island but ended up as a delightful account of Durrellas familyas experiences, from the many eccentric hangers-on to the ceaseless procession of puppies, toads, scorpions, geckoes, ladybugs, glowworms, octopuses, bats, and butterflies into their home.

A wonderful memoir of the youngest of a loopy family living in the Greek isles. His adventures in collecting a wide spectrum of animals, the quirkiness of his family and the delightful island characters provide a wam and often hilarious read.

Dangerous! Will Give Laugh LInes
This is the best non-fiction book I have read in a while. Hilarious! Gerald Durrell tells the story of his life with his mother and siblings, moving out of England into Greece, his love for nature and animals. He is truly gifted in his observation of people and his sense of humour.
