Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time has become an international publishing phenomenon. Translated into thirty languages, it has sold over ten million copies worldwide and lives on as a science book that continues to captivate and inspire new readers each year. When it was first published in 1988 the ideas discussed in it were at the cutting edge of what was then known about the universe. In the intervening twenty years there have been extraordinary advances in the technology of observing both the micro- and macro ... Show more

Stephen Hawking has a way of expressing the impossible in terms most everyone can easily understand. If physics of the universe from micro to macro is of interest to you, and you are not a trained physicist, then read Stephen's book. You will love both him and it.

Fascinating

Packed with information. I got lost a few times and had to refer back to previous chapters, but really this is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to know more about Einstein's Theory of Relativity, Quantum Mechanics and Black Holes and I got all of that and lots more. Well worth reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in modern physics.

Hawking again tries to sound intelligent with his hard core atheist beliefs, of no Creator needed, the universe made itself from nothing. The man is so close to death and he still rejects God as his Savior.

Good for Science

by Bowlergirl07 on Jun 4, 2008

This book, A Brief History of Time, describes in depth what the universe is truly like. In the beginning we learn how the universe was formed through the big bang. From that he began talking about all the mysteries of the universe. To end the book he started talking about how the universe has to end. I read this book for my physics project. The project was an easy project but I found it hard to stay dedicated to this book for the entire semester. I found that this was a hard book to understand because the concepts he talked about were really advanced. It took a long time to read because I had to read sections over a couple of times in order to understand what he was talking about. Truthfully, I did not like this book. This is not the type of book I am interested in because I am really not big into science. I would say that I did learn a lot about cosmology and now I have a better understanding of the universe. If you really enjoy science especially cosmology then this would be a book you would want to read.

Dear Stephen, You are a magical fellow... To say the least. I am a bit askew with all of the theoretical "Realitivy", but I have Ideas that could and would change the world, especially around energy. Perhaps we may talk some day or you will review some of my ideas @ www.otterthink.blogspot.com ... Read more
