Should be a counselling text

by Sandra B on Oct 24, 2011

Really helpful content in terms of counselling people from ethinically or sociologically diverse backgrounds and world-views. Caucasian counsellors need to read it. I have incorporated the book into theological college as a counselling text. I wish it had content on (minority) Asian, African, Islander and Aboriginal peoples.

Eye opener!

by Robin B on Dec 16, 2010

Being a middle-class white, this book has opened my eyes to what it's like to live in this country as a minority. Things that never crossed my mind before, and things that have greatly humbled me and given me a new respect for all minorities. A call to action for all.

Counselor Know Thy Self

by BabyRuth on Jun 30, 2007

Good reading for self analysis of your own biases, prejudices, and conditioned responses toward other cultures. Runs the gamut of cultures from race, ethnic, sex, age, disabled, etc. to the white culture. Good work by the Sues.
