"Decent post- Return of the Jedi story of the new government trying to broker a peace with one of the remaining Empire outposts.
Nice mix of politics and adventure and the Empire guys were written with some personality, rather than just being 'bad guys'."

"This was a fun read. I am a huge Star Wars fan, but have never really liked the books. I wouldn't say great writing. The author pulled characteristics from the movie and a few one liners. But all in all, it was enjoyable to read once."

"As far as published fan fiction goes, not at all bad. Some awkward turns of phrase, many groan-inducing sledgehammer nudge-nudge references to movie dialogue, but still memorable and enjoyable years after I initially read it as an angsty adolescent who was perfectly content with Han and Leia romancing off-scene. The old characters are recognizable, the new ones are cliche but do develop, the enemy is evil, the betrayals are predictable but still effective, and although I could have done without Luke's romance, Gariel was interesting. Angst overtakes diplomatic negotiations, but, then, it did in the films, too. Definitely my recommended Star Wars EU book."

"I acquired this book from Audible; I only realized after that it was, unfortunately, the abridged version. I avoid abridged books if I can - they make me grumbly.

Even so, I enjoyed the book. My favorite part, though, was that it was acted out instead of merely read, but again, that's an audiobook feature. The story was fun; I hadn't ever thought to read Star Wars fiction before, though I do enjoy watching the movies."
