Katie Wainwright

Katie Wainwright lived in Banes, Cuba until the age of fifteen. Her father, William Cameron, a United Fruit Company employee, was Scottish and her mother, Angela Martinez, Cuban. As a girl she remembers Fidel Castro, a tall, imposing university student she and her siblings often ran into at the beach. The family left Cuba in 1950 and settled in Hammond, Louisiana.
