First edition. Very good with spine ends and the corners of the front board bumped. Spine appears slightly faded, and the gold lettering on spine is still bright, but rubbed in a few spots. There are also a few marks of soiling to the boards, and there appears to be a snag in the cloth along the hinge of the rear board, minimally noticeable due to its inconspicuous placement. Two tiny holes in the cloth binding appear at the bottom of the front board, only visible when viewing the book directly along the fore edge. Endpapers are tanned with offset along the hinges, but inside is otherwise clean. Lacking dust jacket.

Fine in Near Fine jacket. 64mo-up to 3" tall. Maugham's cynical (how could it be otherwise? ) historical novel of Machiavelli and the Borgias. Good. No dust jacket. First edition. 1688 p. HARDCOVER BOOK with a 2" spine. Very heavy book. Originally published by Doubleday Doran in 1933, revised by Garden City in 1937. so this book is 75 plus years old. There is an 11-page general introduction by Maugham and this in itself might be worth the price of the book IMO. Condition, over all good and solid but the first 500 pages seems to have many sections (5 or so) in a better quallity of paper and age has kept those pages whiter, where the fest of the pages show a deeper color. The paper is tissue The front and back spine areas show hinge but not separated away, just loose. There is a three and 1/4th page acknowledgement and these are the guts of these books. All inquires will be responded to immediately. This book is too think to be placed in a flat rate priority packet going out of the country. It will have to take the next priority container. All effort will be made to secure the book within a nice strong box.
