Ernst Bloch

Ernst Bloch (1885-1977) left Germany for Switzerland in 1917 because of his pacifist beliefs. In 1933 he left again, returning to Germany in 1949 to assume the chair in philosophy at the University of Leipzig. After the building of the Berlin Wall in 1961, he moved to the University of T?bingen, where he was Professor of Philosophy until his death.
