Bound in the publisher's original green cloth with the front cover and spine stamped in dark green. The dust jacket has a water stain, sun fading to the spine, and wear and chips to the extremities, otherwise a fine book in a very good dust jacket.

SIGNED by the author on the half title page. A story of a boy on his own in Shakespeare's England. Gray (1902-1999) was a professional librarian, winner of the Newbery Medal for her book ADAM OF THE ROAD in 1943, and was a private tutor and life-long friend to Japanese Crown Prince Akihito. Corydon Bell (1894-1980) was an North Carolina author as well as an illustrator who often worked with his wife Thelma.
