Hector Bolitho

Hector Bolitho was the Intelligence Officer for 43 Squadron, one of the RAF fighter squadrons at the centre of the battle for France and the Battle of Britain. One of his key roles was to collate and verify 'Combat Reports' filed by pilots which detailed enemy 'kills'. He was a good friend of John Simpson and the book was written based on John's Combat Reports and letters and Hector's own diary of 1940.
