About this title: Universal's 2011 Deluxe Edition of the Kinks' superb third album, The Kink Kontroversy, finds the 12-track album supported by a 17-track collection of non-LP cuts, including both sides of the "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" and "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" singles; alternate takes of those aforementioned A-sides; outtakes of "Mr. Reporter," "Time Will Tell," and "And I Will Love You"; a demo of "All Night Stand"; and a cracking BBC session where the band cuts into "Till The End of the Day" and "Where Have All the Good Times Gone" and Pete Quaife talks about records. Kontroversy is the best of the Kinks' first three records, but even this is improved by all the bonus material -- the non-LP singles and outtakes are terrific, the band is in fine form for the BBC -- and the remastering is hot, making this the best edition of this terrific album yet released. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
