He staked career and reputation on a brilliant signature style commonly termed "haunting": heavy use of violins and low-key, ascetic orchestrations. The choices paid off: Legrand soon became a Hollywood fixture, and he scored everything from The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) to Barbara Streisand's Yentl (1983). This musical tribute to the songwriter finds Legrand and a plethora of celebrities gathering at the MGM Grand's Garden Arena in Las Vegas for various interpretations of the Frenchman's tunes.
