He (Glen Hansard of the Frames) was a six-stringed street musician. She (MarkTta Irglovß) was a flower woman who couldn't afford to purchase a piano of her own. One day, after admiring the musician's songs and asking if he would take a look at her broken vacuum, the flower-pushing piano player discovers that she shares a remarkable sonic rapport with the mechanically savvy guitarist. As their musical sensibilities quickly converge to striking effect, the talented pair soon determines to record an album together. Jason Buchanan, RoviRead Less

Everything about this film is likely to catch you -- the characters, their story, the music, the humor, the down-to-earth believability. Did I mention the music... I liked the film better than the play made from the film...

I love music and find it to be magic. I had seen these two on one of the morning shows and really liked them and their music. I wonder if they will ever get married.

A Perfect Little Film
This small film (both in scope and running time) does something that escapes most filmmakers who seem compelled to add unnecessary plot twists, CGI and bad dialogue. Instead, "Once" follows an unnamed man (credited as "guy") - played by Glen Hansard, lead singer of the Irish band The Frames, and his relationship with a compelling Czech woman (credited as "girl") who enters his life at a critical time. The music is FANTASTIC, the emotions are real, and the film never tries to be anything more than a nice, sweet and sometimes sad story about love, loss and joy. It's incredibly heartwarming, beautifully scored, and the kind of film that more people should make, watch and enjoy.
